My Students

My students want what we all do--a safe home, good friends, good health, opportunities to learn and grow, and the chance to make a difference in the world. They come to me from over twenty countries, speaking a dozen languages. New to the country, the culture, and rigors of high school, my students deal with a lot. One thing they shouldn’t have to deal with is a messy science lab. However, this year our budget is stretched thin, so much so that we cannot afford basic supplies for keeping our activities clean.

My Project

We need paper towels. Our 3 classrooms go through, on average, a roll per day, used to clean up spills or to clean up from regular activities. Things can get wet or messy when 75 students are using markers, preparing wet slides for microscopy, or maintaining our indoor plant growth experiments. When a student washes his or her hands in the sink, they are preventing the spread of pathogens, then they reach for a paper towel to dry off.

A basic supply like paper towels should not be a luxury out of our reach.

Please help us get through the school year with this bare necessity to keep our classrooms clean and our students healthy.
