We Need Owl Puke!

My Project

I teach 7th grade science and many 7th graders love hands-on labs! No better way to do this to study owl pellets, aka, owl puke!

My 7th graders study many different body systems, and one of those is the skeletal system.

They are fascinated to see the various bones they find and how they can compare the similarities and differences from their owl pellet to human skeletons.

I feel my job is to spark the interest of my students through engaging lessons. I want them to fall in love with science! I want to inspire them to explore careers in science and all that it can encompass! These are the labs that capture my students, hook, line and sinker!

No other lab I do compares to the owl pellet lab. I have taught 25 years and it never gets old! Even with the ever-changing students, this is the lab they always love. They dissect pellets, learn about food webs, learn the names of various bones, determine what their owl ate, and even put the bones back together to form a skeleton.

Your help makes this lab possible for my students and I want to say thank you ahead of time on behalf of my students and myself. Teaching engaging labs continues to motivate me as a teacher as well!
