Dissecting owl pellets will help my students be engaged in science. It will allow them to use measurement, identify animals by their teeth, jaws and bones, and understand what some birds cannot digest. Dissecting owl pellets will allow students to use probes, forceps, magnifying glasses and microscopes to identify the type of prey an owl ate. They will feel like a real scientist! They will graph their results and compile the classroom data. They will answer critical thinking questions as well. This is an activity most students will remember and for many it is the turning point of being interested in science! My hope is for them to all enjoy science!
