Kids need to be reading non fiction text. Often, the kids in my classroom gravitate towards fictional stories. Please help my students by giving them exciting non fiction books to use in reading groups!
My students are an amazing bunch of third graders.
They really love to read! They enjoy setting goals with our Accelerated Reader program and celebrating them meeting those goals at our quarterly recognition assembly. However, my kids are most often choosing fictional books to read and I want to prove to them that non fiction can be fun too!
My Project
It's my goal to show my students that non fiction books can be exciting to read too! I need books to use in reading group that are interesting to my students. I want to be able to prepare them for the Common Core Standards, which require more use of non fiction text in instruction. We will use these books to learn about interesting things and be able to discuss real information in reading group.
Please help me help my students be prepared for the changes that are coming with the Common Core by helping me get these resources in their hands.
We are in need of non fictional materials in our classroom and these books would really diversify the learning we do in reading group.
