My students need 34 new copies of "The Crucible." because it is a wonderful play for them to study and read aloud, but the books we have now are literally falling apart!

My Students
It is disheartening for my students to read books that are torn and held together with masking tape and scotch tape, and are not even a matching set, so we're all on different pages.
My school is a high poverty school with students from all over the world.
We are in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the entire country. The culture at our school embraces our differences, and we are proud of our many ethnicities and languages. We have high expectations for our students, and they are rising to them!
My Project
"The Crucible" is an amazing book for high school students. It is rich in subtext, and raises excellent questions about who has authority and why. It gives students a view of Puritan society, but also pulls in more recent history as we consider Miller's vision of the witch trials as an allegory for McCarthyism. The play is a call to arms for personal integrity and courage, and teens find it fascinating.
Our school literally does not have funds to replace tattered and torn books.
All students deserve better, but it is particularly important for poor students, whose self-esteem is more at stake and may perceive low quality materials as some reflection on their worth in society's eyes.
More than half of students from low‑income households
