I am a Kindergarten teacher to 48 students at a dual language immersion public school. Our school serves 900 students in grades K to 8. My single classroom works hard to serve two large classes per day with a morning and an afternoon session. Any student in Dekalb County, GA, can apply for the free public lottery to attend our school. My students love to read and write and they work so hard to learn in both English and Mandarin each day.

My Project
Adding these books to our classroom library would be a huge boost in the quality of our literacy program. These are also books I am unable to check out from our local library system.
Each of these books has been selected to support our curriculum and the social and emotional needs of my students.
Engaging picture books are an essential part of building comprehension, vocabulary and understanding character development. Many of these books can support our writing units as well as helping children develop the language used in strong writing pieces. I am so excited to have more resources to inspire visual thinking and build story analyzing skills.
