Imagine walking into a community where everyone knows your name and everyone is there to help you out and help you to reach your fullest potential. Now imagine that that community is with a group of 3, 4, and 5 year olds, and they all collaborate and support each other. That is the way that our classroom is run. We are a mixed classroom, meaning that we have both special education students and general education students within our room. Walking into our classroom you will never know which children are which because they all work together and support each other and are kind to each other.
We are a group of "bucket fillers" and we help and care for each other and we celebrate each other's successes.
Our families are very active and supportive of their child's education and they are a part of our classroom community!
My Project
I teach preschool special education and many of my children are unable to identify even the first letter in their first name. My children need more materials to help them to learn their letters.
Preschool children need hands-on experiences as well as visual support to learn.
The visual letter chart will help them learn about each letter that we talk about each week. The floating letters are going to be huge for my kiddos because I have many who love sensory experiences and this will give them exposure to letters. The tracing activity will help the children learn their letters and how to write them!
