This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are an integrated collaborative teaching (ICT) first grade class with a mixture of general and special education students at a high-needs Title 1 school in the Bronx. Our students face many difficulties in their daily lives due to low income/high poverty homes and/or limited parental involvement. In addition, many of our students have a wide range of learning disabilities, social-emotional and academic needs.
Despite these challenges, our students arrive at our door with enthusiastic smiles, ready to give their teachers “their best.” Watching our students grow emotionally, socially, and academically before our eyes is truly magical.
Our students never give up and their love of learning is endless. Working with them every day is a true gift and they inspire me to provide the best education I can for them.

My Project…
As teachers, we do everything we can to provide rich, meaningful learning experiences throughout the day.
We do this by designing instruction that specifically meets the needs of our diverse learners. We are continuously preparing engaging lessons with built in “hands-on” activities that are multi-sensory and differentiated.
Due to all the varied levels of our students and ever-changing levels of progress and growth, we are constantly printing out assessments, checklists, conference notes, tiered activities, leveled guided reading books, small group worksheets, weekly homework materials for reinforcement of skills, center game materials, colorful visuals to make anchor charts and strategies “come to life” and the list goes on and on!
Teachers are forever assessing student growth and making “on the spot decisions” moment by moment while they are teaching. These integral decisions based on student needs leads us straight to the printer! Keeping up with the replacement of ink cartridges is quite costly.
With your generous donations, our students will benefit from a plethora of resources at their fingertips because you provided us with the “ink” to help us “think” and move towards becoming life-long learners
