My Students
Have you ever been stuck at the computer trying to complete your project and wasn't able to? Recently my students have faced this dilemma at no fault of their own.
I teach middle school students age 11-14 in a title 1 low-income diverse school setting.
I do most of my writing assignments with my general music classes. I have two NEST classes this year in my general music program and we have researched drumming. (The NEST program is a program that integrates highly functioning autism students into a top level class, providing them a "nesting" area to calm down when they may become overwhelmed with anxiety or need a moment of peace in the classroom.)
We are starting a new unit on Bucket Drumming and thought it was only right that they learned the origins on drumming and percussion in cultures around the world. As some students were preparing to print their documents with beautifully colored cover pages, the printer notified me that we had run out of ink. To the students' dismay, we had to print the cover pages using our black and white laser printer instead. And of course... that ran out of ink too.
My Project
The students are always working on new research assignments and projects to decorate our room and hallways with their new discoveries of the music in our world. We have researched composers and created a hallway of composers, kind of like a hall of fame for baseball players. Each student was assigned a composer and was asked to create a document detailing their biggest accomplishments and also to print a photograph to be laminated and hung on the wall. This project was a great success. We would like to continue printing our documents in order to display our learning in the classroom and adjacent hallways.
Please consider making a donation to this project to bring these much needed supplies to my students.
They are eager and excited to continue their printing and research but cannot do so without these ink cartridges. Thank you.
