My Students
We love our students, and we are amazed by their resilience. Their ability to overcome adversity at the young age of 5 is unbelievable.
Due to Hurricane Michael, they lost their homes, their school, and their sense of normalcy.
Many of their friends have moved away.
We have now begun a new school year. Our students loop from kindergarten to first grade with us. This means we have our students for two consecutive years which gives us the opportunity to form a bond like no other.
Last school year, our students had to adjust to sharing a classroom with another group of kindergartners. With that said, we are now back in our original building and classrooms; however, we lost many resources with classroom furniture being one of the greatest losses.
Given the many challenges our students have faced over the course of the last ten months, it has been amazing to see our students show up every day with smiles on their faces, eager to learn! They are so happy to be back in our original classroom.
My Project
As an Intensive Reading teacher in primary grades, I encounter have children who just need to move. They have so much energy! They need an outlet! They need help channeling their energy!
These stools provide students with a safe outlet for their energy which helps them focus on the task at hand.
When sitting in these stools, my students are able to move freely while sitting with proper posture. There is no slouching, leaning back in the chair, kicking other students chair legs, or invading other students' personal space.
The flexible seating stools will benefit students in all academic areas, especially when they are working in small groups.
