Our school is in a rural area where students are bussed in from great distances. These students all come from different areas but when they get to our school all of those differences slip away. They are united in their wish to be a learning community based on respect. They support each other in the classroom and outside of the classroom in activities and athletics.
Our kids want to learn about the world around them.
They want to grow and explore and we want to be able to provide them with new experiences.
My Project
Our high school counselor has a "free store" in her office. This store is stocked with clothing, food and personal care needs. The store is stocked pretty well with the exception of feminine hygiene products. Families who receive food assistance are not able to use these funds for personal hygiene items. These items are expensive and we do not want our female students to be stressed out trying to pay for these items.
Feminine hygiene isn't a glamorous topic but our girls need access to these supplies.
This project will give our female students peace of mind knowing they have a place to do for these needed items.
