I am a Special Education Teacher at a Title I elementary school in Hilo, Hawaii. I teach 4th grade in an inclusion setting with a co-teacher. In our grade level, our students rotate for math, ELA, and sciences; therefore, we will see each and every 4th-grade student in our school (nearly 170 students).
It is important to us that each and every student comes to school excited to learn every day.
As an inclusive classroom, we understand that the world can be a challenging place. We want our classroom to feel like a safe place where students can learn and explore together.
My Project
As an inclusion class (meaning many of our students have special needs) we want to incorporate many ways for students to learn. One way to do this is using colored construction paper to create art. This paper can be used in our book clubs and in math! We also can use the index cards to help students with math facts, sight words and even STEM building projects!
The multi-colored highlighters will help our students stay organized!
By writing each line on the board in a different color the students have an easier time keeping their place when they are working. Thank you for donating to our project!
