Help me give my students 37 transitional books to foster a love of reading.

My Project

I am a teacher/librarian at an elementary school that services many Navy and Army families in Hawaii. The library is the center of encouraging literacy on our Preschool-6th grade campus. About half of the students at my school are military dependents who move locations every three years. My students come to the library twice a month for library visits where they borrow books for academic and recreational purposes.

I'd like to purchase books recommended by the School Library Journal for early readers from popular series such as Fly Guy, Elephant and Piggie, The Princess in Black, and Press Start!

These excellent children's books are perfect for my younger elementary students for individual reading, one-on-one sharing, and read alouds to engage my readers with humorous plots and storytelling. They will help to bolster their image of themselves as readers and encourage my students to read independently for fun!
