Help me give my students "a world in which all children can see themselves in the pages of a book." - W.N.D.B.

My Students
My fourth graders are incredible, engaged and thoughtful little beings who are fueled by an insatiable sense of wonder and a persistent desire to invite, develop, and make sense of their relationship with the world around them. My classroom is made up of students whose life experiences and perspectives play an important role in shaping our classroom community.
As COVID continues to instigate uncertainties within our community and academic calendar, the one thing that I am certain about is showing up for my students as an educator who understands what good instruction looks like and is seeking out ways to best adapt those strategies to a hybrid or remote environment.
My Project
The books that I read to my class must serve as a representation of each of my students. These stories will serve as mentors to guide our own personal narratives and lead the way to writing our own stories.
When we see ourselves, our families, our friends, the members of our community as the main characters of their own experiences, it truly matters.
Liberation is deeply rooted in education. Help us cultivate a library that mirrors who we are and distances itself from the dangers of a single story.
