Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our elementary school is located in Signal Hill, CA. Our school is very diverse; our students come from a wide range of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our students are curious and inquisitive and they love to learn. Our students and teachers strive for greatness and as a result, our school is very high-performing. Some students, however, haven't found the books that have sparked a life-long love for reading. This project seeks to get more of our students excited about reading.
My Project
When students walk into the school library for the first time in September, I'd like them to see engaging, high-quality books that will draw students in.
The books I've chosen reflect the diverse student body at our school.
I guarantee that after these books are displayed and introduced to our K-5 students, they will not stay on the shelves.
In addition to choosing books that reflect our students' identities and experiences, I've chosen books that have the visual appeal to draw in reluctant readers.
With your help, your donation will provide a much-needed update to our library's collection and will sponsor a life-long love of reading.
