We Need Classroom Basics for Little Students Who Struggle!

Help me give my students classroom basics like stickers, highlighter markers, dry erase board erasers and a pencil sharpener.

My Students

I am a first-grade teacher in a wonderful school in Wisconsin. My students are very special, and I just love going to school every day to see the sparkle in their little 5 to 8-year-old eyes. I also get to connect with students of various ages during and after school. I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure every day with my students! We participate in so many fun activities throughout the year, and our hope is to add even more.

My Project

I work with a wide variety of students. I work with students who have autism, dyslexia, students who are nonverbal, and students who have other learning disabilities and special needs in my first-grade classroom. I have trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching literacy, and I am having so much fun helping my little students to build confidence and to grow and even flourish!

It is so rewarding to be able to help all of these children learn to make sounds and learn to read.

I am requesting highlighter markers so that my students can highlight sounds and letters in poems and on their phoneme/grapheme chart. We also highlight our favorite letters and certain words. I am requesting dry erase markers so that students can erase the work that they do on the different dry erase boards that I have, where they practice writing letters and words. If my students get these erasers, we can finally get rid of the socks that we have been using to erase for years. I am also requesting some wonderful stinky stickers to use as motivation for my students who struggle most. Finally, I am requesting a pencil sharpener so that my students can keep their pencils in tip-top shape. We use our pencils for everything, so this is definitely an important classroom basic.
