Help me give my students snacks for robotics practices and tournaments, because due to the loss of federal funding, my robotics program is no longer provided with after-school snacks.
Aloha! I am the proud coach of my school’s robotics team. During the past three years, my team has been extremely fortunate to have had support with monies from federal funding. My students’ robotics registration was paid for, along with some tournament fees, and most importantly, they were provided with after-school snacks daily. Unfortunately, many schools along the Leeward coast, along with my school, lost this precious funding. Snacks not only help my students keep their stamina up, but they also help boost morale, too! Happy students work better, smarter, and safer.
My students lose stamina during the day and need snacks to help them keep their momentum up during robotics practices and long tournament days.
I’m asking for snacks like chips, cookies, and instant noodles for practices. The noodles are a special treat as they aren’t given out daily. They’re more of a Friday, ‘we almost made it through the week, two more hours to go’ kind of snack.
The heartier foods like the rice, nori, and SPAM are used together to make one of Hawaii’s favorite meals, SPAM Musubi! We often make these for our tournaments. The great thing about them is that they freeze well, so I can also make them in advance, put them in my classroom freezer, and students can eat them as a snack during practices.
The chili and cheese I can also use during our breaks. We practice on multiple days, so I can divide them into zipper bags or containers and heat them up each day and eat them with chips, hot dogs, and even rice.
