My students need books to read and discuss in groups. "Yang the Youngest" is a great book that my ELL students can relate to. It's about a Chinese family that moves to the United States!

My Students
Hello everyone! My name is Ms. DaCosta, and I've been teaching for 16 years at a public school in the Bronx, New York. I have the pleasure of teaching a wonderful group of English Language Learners.
My students come from many ethnic backgrounds, but they have one thing in common.
They all understand and appreciate the many opportunities that life in the USA has available to them. They truly value their education. My students are extremely eager to learn and master the English language, along with math, ELA, science and social studies.
I am hoping that DonorsChoose.org will enable me to enrich the learning experiences of these wonderful children.
My Project
The book sets will be an asset to our learning. Reading these books together will help us to learn and understand story elements and theme. Most importantly, they will enable us to engage in rich discussion because the books are based on themes and subjects that my students can relate to. I have many projects planned around these books, and I'm excited to begin them.
Students love to display their answers to math word problems on a dry erase board!
Dry erase boards and sleeves are a great way to help the environment by lessening the use of paper in the classroom. These are tools my students will love using, and that will motivate them to try solving difficult word problems.
