This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a low-income community and many of my students come from a single parent home. These students and parents are dealing with many issues and unfortunately do not have the resources to purchase books for their children. I am asking for your help so that my students can discover new books.

I have a class of 17 students ranging in ESOL levels 1-5.

They come from all walks of life and wish to learn as much as possible. They are very sweet and bright kids with much potential. I hope to expose them to several books in order to enrich their vocabulary.

My Project

These books will help change the lives of my students for the better because it will enrich their vocabulary and expose them to literature that they would not be able to encounter on their own. These students will be tested on the FCAT Reading Assessment at the end of the year and they need to be able to compare and contrast texts in their reading level. I plan on creating group activities where I can help my students understand what they are reading and I hope to build a love of reading. I want my students to enjoy reading, therefore I have picked several popular reading series that they can relate to.

Please help my students reach their full potential.
