This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a suburban school with around 900 students, grades Pre-K to 3. Students at our school love being involved in activities that spark the imagination. They are an energetic bunch, so they are always willing to participate.
Many students are often not afforded exciting opportunities outside of the classroom setting.
Due to the low socio-economic level of our families, the entire school receives free breakfast. Our school also has a transient population with several military families, and some moving in with relatives due to the economy. Regardless, students enjoy new learning opportunities at our school.
My Project
Technology and website subscriptions can be very costly, but they can yield very successful results as well. Our third graders have been using IXL.com for Math skills only for several years now. As a grade level, they recently passed the state math test with great results!
We would like to have access to the IXL.com Language Arts skills sections now because our scores have not been as high as we would like them to be in Reading, and our school cannot fund both subscriptions for the beginning of the new year.
The Language Arts skills sections include: reading strategies, writing strategies, vocabulary, and grammar.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
As a teacher-founded nonprofit, we're trusted by thousands of teachers and supporters across the country. This classroom request for funding was created by Ms. Wickle and reviewed by the DonorsChoose team.
