This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school with amazing kids who are excited about school and want to learn. They are inquisitive and creative kids. They come from low income families who are very transient. They need and deserve to have amazing wonderful things just for them to help them learn whether they are in my class for a year, a week, or even one day.
These wonderful and amazing kids need an iPad.
My students would love to travel outside the classroom for science and math on any given day. However, it takes iPads to leave the building as well as run the programs we would like to use. My students would be able to program their own video games with science concepts, track the weather daily, and practice math skills.
My Project
For math my students will use the iPad to play math games practicing math skills, watch math videos selected just for them. They will also be using the iPad to practice reading and comprehension skills that can be assessed as they move through certain programs.
My students will use the iPad to create their own video games using bloxels, track the weather daily, create green screen projects where they become part of the project, and program robots to name a few.
They will apply the knowledge they have gained to review for science as well as math with these games. My students will get a chance to use makeymakeys to build controllers to use with their games.
More than half of students from low‑income households
