My Students

My students live in a rural area of Alabama. Our school is a Kindergarten through 4th grade, Title I school, serving around 600 students. About 86% of the students are white, 13% are African American, and 1% is Hispanic. Over half of the students eat free or reduced price lunch. Their parents usually work a great distance from the school. They do not have the opportunity to go a few blocks or miles to their doctor. It is usually a 30-45 mile drive to their pediatrician.

Having an otoscope in our school would be very beneficial in knowing the urgent need for student pickup vs.

getting back to learning while their parent schedules an appointment for after school. When a student's ear is hurting, having functioning equipment is a comfort to that student.

"All students will be healthy, safe, and ready to learn," is the mission for the school nurse.

My Project
