We Need a Pre-K Playground!

My students need an outdoor playground that is appropriate for their age! We currently do not use the outside playground, because it is too high and not safe for our Pre-K children.

My Students

Our classroom is a pre-k class for children with special needs and typically developing children in an inner city school district. We have a full day class that is in session Monday through Friday.

Half of my students are three to four years old with a variety of disabilities.

The other half are typically developing students that will transition to kindergarten for the next school year.

They love to build with blocks, work on floor puzzles, read books, explore art materials and interact with a variety of other materials. Many of my students have very limited language skills and social interaction skills.

My students all receive free breakfast and lunch and many receive food bags donated by a local church to take home each week for the weekends.

My Project

Our students need an outdoor play area. We currently don't use the outdoor playground because it is too high and not safe for our pre-K children. We have arranged for a section of our playground to be fenced off so that we can have appropriate sized equipment for our students.

We would like to add more materials for our students so that they can have fun and enjoy the fresh air!

We currently have one climber that is age/size appropriate for our students, but need more than just that!
