My students need a nice classroom carpet to sit on while reading and learning. They also need five stability balls where they can sit, feel comfortable, focus, and learn.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Would you like to sit on an ugly carpet or a chair all day? We cannot sit still for too long. Imagine being 8 years old and sitting old day long. We need a rug and some stability balls to keep us focused!
We are a community ready to succeed.
Most of our students come from low socio-economic homes, but with great expectations and hope. We are a Title I school where more than 80% of our students come from diverse backgrounds and receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My students are in second grade in a Spanish Dual Immersion program, and they are learning to appreciate other cultures and their own. We are encouraging them to love reading, not only to gain knowledge but also to be creative and find new solutions to the many problems they face everyday at home.
My Project
My students need a nice classroom carpet to sit on while reading and learning. They also need five stability balls where they can sit, feel comfortable, focus, and learn.
Our class is in a portable classroom. We are very happy, but the carpet is very old. We like to read and have conversations on the carpet, and we would like to have a nice rug to sit upon and be organized. Some of our students are full of energy, and they would benefit by sitting on the stability balls while working on reading and math.
My students will remember how they got to sit in a nice place while reading their favorite stories on a nice rug.
They will also remember sitting on the stability balls where they were able to complete their work, being more able to concentrate on their assignments.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
