This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work with a dedicated group of students who work hard to produce two shows a year. Our auditorium is outdated and we are in desperate need of basic equipment that many other schools take for granted.
Even though we don't have much, we have each other.
I do my best to provide opportunities for my students to learn about work onstage and backstage. Unless we improve our technical capability, we cannot work on the same level as other schools in the area.
My Project
My students do great work, but most of our production photos and videos were taken on someone's iphone. If we are lucky, we can fine someone on the yearbook staff to help us. It's time for us to take good pictures for ourselves.
We need a high quality digital slr camera in order to take quality production photos and to be capture video of performances and rehearsals.
We can also use this camera for in-class projects and as a tool for students to watch themselves in rehearsal. Camera phones are great but in order to present quality, we need quality materials. This is an affordable option and will allow us to document our work with ease.
