it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My diverse classroom is composed primarily of English Language Learners in a high poverty area. My students come from different academic, linguistic, and socio-cultural backgrounds. They are eager learners who need time, understanding, and a friendly environment that gives them the security and opportunity to discover themselves and their world.
Most of my students start 2nd grade without knowing how to read or write.
Our school does not have a library, so it is in the classroom that students have the opportunity to read and listen to stories, to learn about their world, and to discover how much they can do for the future.
My Project
Our school district is going back to our buildings in full capacity this fall. I will have around 20 students in my classroom so I need to create a clean, safe, and healthy environment for these children. For example, I want to make sure that I will have enough hand sanitizer for my students and plastic pouches where they can keep their school supplies in order to avoid the spread of germs.

Being back to school this year will bring new challenges for teachers. Besides making sure students have the school supplies to accomplish educational activities, we need to stock our classrooms with disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizers, face masks, and other creative strategies to keep COVID-19 out of our rooms.
Most of my students live in multi-generational households with parents/guardians who have jobs that force them to be out in public. These children are at high risk of catching the virus compared to those whose parents work from home and do not live in crowded homes.
