My students need a new carpet that will allow space for all of them to sit together. This past year, a smaller carpet did not provide enough room for all of my scholars!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are growing up in an environment that forces them to assume responsibilities beyond that of a nine year old. I have seen other schools use carpets and morning meetings through the fifth grade. It is in this space that students are truly able to stay within the bubble of being children again!
My students are a very diverse group of learners at a Title I school.
They are not given a lot so I try my best to make school a warm and welcoming place. Generally, my students love learning and are able to accomplish great things on a daily basis.
In my classroom they are completely engrossed in non-fiction reading instruction that requires them to become deep thinkers about the world around them. They love to share ideas and learning with one another, but seldom have the opportunity to sit together as a comfortable group.
My Project
I am requesting a large carpet with individual color blocked spaces for up to 30 students. With a large class size, I was unable to accommodate all of the students with spaces on my much smaller carpet last year. Due to this, we were unable to have an authentic read aloud, morning meeting, and a general space for community building. This new carpet will give me the space I desire for building a family of learners within the classroom.
My students are fourth graders who deserve to experience fourth grade, not just sit in rows of desks all day long!
The impact that this rug will make on my classroom environment is immeasurable; it will literally be the focal point of my teaching space.
