We Need a Class Set of Rekenreks in Kindergarten

My students need a class set of Rekenreks for Math Talks.

My Students

Our class is a typical, rural kindergarten class. On average, I have 20 students that love to learn. They light up my day when they walk in the door each morning. Kindergarten is a great age to teach. They are so eager to learn and get so excited about learning new things.

This is my 27th year of teaching kindergarten and I still love it!

The kids help to keep me young at heart, and they always keep me on my toes.

My Project

The Rekenreks will allow each of my students to develop a strong math foundation with addition, subtraction, and place value skills. All students work better if they have their own boards and they do not have to share. This class set of Rekenrek boards will settle a lot of fussing over sharing.

With a class set of Rekenreks, my students will be able to manipulate their own math materials during our Math Talks about numbers, addition, subtraction and financial literacy.

The students love Math Talks and by using 5 and 10 as anchors for counting, adding, and subtracting is far more efficient than one-by-one

counting.
