Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We love to read and need books that are just right for us. We need beautiful pictures and repetitive text. We need to build our vocabulary and have fun doing it. Won't you help us?
Our room is the best place to be...where the smiles are BIG and the energy is unstoppable.
Our school is a gem in the middle of a rough neighborhood where we see more than our fair share of violence. These kids are resilient. They come to school daily eager to learn and don't want to leave at the end of the day! Poverty is high, gang violence and other urban issues plague this area. You can help us combat these issues by giving our students the gift of reading! These books will help give them the tools they need to be ready for 1st grade.
My Project
We are asking for a beautiful collection of leveled readers that are just right for kindergarteners. These books have beautiful pictures and illustrations that leap off the page. Students will be able to read and reread these books over and over again! They will be able to share them with a friend and read together in small groups. They will even be able to take them home and read to their grown-up.
If we get these kids reading at level in Kindergarten they will have the best chance at staying on level and moving along on target.
If they lag behind now- catch up keeps getting harder and harder. Help these bright young minds get what they need NOW.
