We Love To Read!

My students need new sets of fun and interesting chapter books that they can read in small groups and picture books on CD that they can listen to as they follow along.

My Students

When you enter our classroom you will notice some amazing students eager to learn, then I suspect your eye will catch some students with books stacked to the brim in their desk, probably sneakily reading when they think no one is looking. You see, we really love to read in our classroom.

I work with some of the most amazing 2nd graders.

Everyday they amaze me with their drive and determination to learn and challenge themselves. Our school is an awesome one, we love to encourage students to read. Although my students are hardworking and very eager to learn, many of them lack the resources to become great readers. They need as many books to choose from to get them interested in reading, that's where your support comes into play.

My Project

Think back to when you were in 2nd grade, you were just beginning your career as a reader. That is where my students are right now. If you can't find fun and interesting books on your level, it's pretty easy to check out of reading. We go to the library every week and I see my students trying to find the coolest books, but many times those books are ones that are too old and too advanced. Just because they are younger doesn't mean they don't want to learn about space, or get sucked into a humorous novel. They want to read, they just don't always have the best selection to choose from. I would love nothing more than for our classroom to be the place they can find those books.

When I think back to when I became interested in books, I can name the specific books that caught my eye and really got me excited to read.

My students need that, we need that in our classroom. I truly believe that everyone has it in them to become lifelong readers, they just need to find the right books! The books that I have ordered are ones specifically that my students have asked for, I know they will read and enjoy them. You can make a difference in our classroom and in their lives.
