Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Some of my students are reluctant readers, while others cannot keep a book out of their hands. All my students are challenged to find books that they love and enjoy.
My students come from a challenging area, where they are dealing with difficult decisions on a daily basis.
Many students are struggling financially and do not have the opportunity to buy their own books. These students come shouldering many challenges, however they all have tremendous potential to achieve great things.
My Project
In years past, I have taught a smaller group of students who were struggling with reading and writing. This year, my number of students has doubled. I now teach the struggling students as well as the high achieving students. As an English teacher, my favorite thing to do is to stand at the classroom library bookshelf and help students choose a book that they will enjoy. This year I have noticed that I do not have enough books as my number of students has doubled. My students need high interest, classroom library books that challenge them to grow as a reader.
I can't wait to get these great books in the hands of my students and watch them come alive.
I want to inspire my students to be life-long learners through fostering a love of reading. Please help me do that by donating to my classroom. THANK YOU!
