My Students

I teach grades K-4 in a resource room setting where each of my students receives individualized instruction in reading. The students in my special education classroom are an amazing group of kids, each one having individual talents and strengths. With such a wide range of ages/grades I am always looking for new ways to engage my students in hands-on learning activities. I would like to create self-directed learning centers in my classroom where my students can practice their skills and ultimately build the confidence that will foster a love for reading and learning.

My Project

These materials will be used to create literacy learning centers in my Special Education resource room. These centers will enable my students to practice the skills they need to become confident, self-directed learners.

My students love having the opportunity to showcase what they can do.

These learning centers will enable me to give them multiple opportunities to practice their literacy skills in ways that are fun and meaningful. Tactile learning is very important for students who have difficulty with phonological awareness, which is why I want to design these centers around activities that will excite and engage them.
