My students need more books that cater to their interests. My students need multicultural books. It is essential they can see themselves in stories and be able to connect to characters.

In our classroom, we have twenty-three excited, eager, and kind students come to school ready to learn each day. They work hard, help each other, and strive to be better every day. They are thinkers, readers, mathematicians, problem-solvers, scholars, and empathizers.
They are an energetic bunch who find the joy in learning every day.
In our classroom, we have 11 students who are learning English as a second language, 3 students with an IEP, and many who are reading below grade level. Despite challenges, my students have the motivation to improve every day. They show grit and face each challenge with a positive attitude.
Our school has 90% of students on free or reduced-price lunch. We also have 30% of our student body who are English language learners.
Research shows that the more books in a classroom library and the more students are exposed to literature, the better readers they become. Being literate is one of the most important tools students need for their future. Our classroom needs more books and a better variety for students to choose from, which will excite their interest and ignite their love for reading.
It is crucial students see themselves in the books they read, which is why we picked out many multicultural books for our library.
Fiction and humorous fiction are favorites in our classroom, and we can't wait to get our hands on more of these types of books. These books will add excitement and joy to our library. Students will use them frequently throughout the day to read either to themselves or to a partner.
