My Students

Do you enjoy reading? Do you like journaling? A typical day in my classroom is filled with reading and writing. We are in constant need of new books and materials. Imagine being the one that puts a big smile on a first graders' face when they have new sharpen pencils and books to read.

My school is very diverse.

We have many different cultures represented in our school and in each classroom. I also have many children that come from very poverty stricken environments. Although they are all different one thing that all my students have in common this year is a love for learning. Providing resources and the time, my students always grow so much. The more books and supplies I have available, the more opportunities I can provide for my students. Research shows that students become better readers and writers, by reading and writing daily. School supplies are always in high demand and run short. Books, pencils, markers, simple things that we might take for granted, mean so much to my students. My first graders will be so excited if you choose to sponsor us.

My Project

These materials will be used throughout the day, during reader's workshop, writer's workshop, and center time. They will provide more ways for students to independently read and write. The pencil sharpener, rug, markers, and books all will be used to enrich our reading and writing time in the classroom. The little readers, if purchased, will give students more books that they can read independently. My students already love Pete the Cat and by having more of his books in the room will inspire more reading. Research shows the more you read the more you know. And of course the more you know, as Dr. Seuss would say "The more places you will go!" If given these materials we will "keep on grooving" in reading and writing. Your donation will help students in my classroom go to new places in their learning!

Please know that everything I receive for my classroom makes such a big difference in a child's life.

The books and materials, if provided will help build our classroom library and continue to build our writer's workshop experiences as well. My students are learning how to pick out just right books and love new books to read in the classroom. As Pete the Cat would say "We love to read and write, we love to read and write!" You can make a difference. Please consider helping us.
