My students need a new listening center, headphones, and book bins! Part of our literacy block includes listening to engaging stories and then responding to the story. This will better their reading fluency and comprehension.

My students are special in their way of thinking, learning, and exploring the world around them.
The school is enrolled with over 73% of English language learners. They are very eager to succeed in all dimensions of the school community and beyond the classroom.
This donation will make a huge difference in the learning opportunities for all my first graders. It would fulfill a platform of learning for multiple subjects such as Writer's Workshop, Math, Science, and Reader's Workshop.
My Project
The wireless headphones for the listening center would be a daily part of my students learning. Part of the literacy block is for students to listen to a fluent reader in a small group followed by a response activity.
Everyday my students will use these headphones while listening to a story.
The wireless headphones would make this literacy center more accessible by eliminating time to untangle the current headphones that have thick spirally cords that are always hard to tame.
Along with the wireless headphones, my students would benefit from a listening center organizing stand. This stand would allow the books, headphones, and response journals to be tidy and organized for learning.
When I said my students love listening to reading I also meant they love listening to reading from a radio thats reliable. Besides having a cassette player and CD player, this radio has bluetooth technology which allows any smart device to stream stories or anything else wirelessly.
All the equipment, along with book bins, would be appreciated for many years to come as this is an on-going center that is used all-year round with each and every cohort. My students are the most engaged when listening to a fluent reader from a reliable and accessible listening radio.
