My Students

It’s so wonderful when I hear, “We love the library!” from our young readers. They have a passion for reading and a desire for learning. They especially love engaging in special projects during our makerspace time. During makerspace, students develop STEM skills to make them future ready.

Part of our library was affected by Harvey, but that did not hold them back.

I often have groups of students waiting by the library to greet me every morning! What a way to start your day! They are inspiring!

My Project

The kids don't use the iPad just for research, but to go beyond research. We use virtual field trips, augmented reality, green screen, and external collaboration to extend our learning beyond the confines of the library.

Our learning involves our local and broader community.

We need enough iPads for the students to use when classes go to the library. All K-5 graders will be able to use the technology. Some classes use the green screen program on the iPad to study biographies, while others use it to help with the writing process. One of the most popular activities is using the Osmo program to make reading and math challenges fun and exciting!
