We Love Tennis All Year Long!

My Students

Our urban middle school has over 800 students and most are from low income and disadvantaged households. Health and Physical Education are two of the most important subjects at the middle school level. Students learn social skills, like how to peacefully resolve conflict, interpersonal skills enhance health and reduce health risks, healthy eating practices, and much more.

Our students are fast learners when it comes to new sports.

In just one week they will learn the skills needed to practice volleying in tennis or shooting goals in soccer.

My school was built a long time ago and there are not many modern conveniences here. We go without air conditioning and the heating system works well in some places and not much in others. It is the students and the staff that make our school great! It is an urban middle school, full of life, including diverse students. A unified staff all works together to make our school a safe and fun learning environment for everyone.

My Project

We are very lucky to have five outdoor tennis courts at our school and have gotten donations of racquets and balls so that we can teach students the life sport of tennis to our students.

Once the snow arrives we are stuck indoors but with these indoor nets will make it possible for us to teach tennis all year round.

With your help, we can teach skills that a student can use for the rest of their lives. We will also be able to teach pickleball too. This is one of the fastest-growing and most popular recreational games in America.
