My 2nd grade students come from a wide range of backgrounds. They love to learn and are anxious to get their hands on technology. Having Chromebooks would allow us to research in small groups giving students an opportunity to explore and learn about topics that are of interest and relevant.
I teach 24 energetic, excited, talented and amazing 2nd grade students.
Typically my students come from all walks of life and some often speak dual languages. No matter where they come from or what their socio-economic status is, they are excited about school and want to take advantage of every opportunity I can give them. These kids love to learn. It is amazing and inspiring to see the "light bulb" go off in their heads as they learn something new or finally "get it".
My Project
Technology really can and does make a difference in the classroom. In years past when students had a question that I didn't know the answer to, I would tell them that I would look it up at home and get back to them. Now we can all look together at the same subject or each child can research a different question to share with the rest in the group. Adding these Chromebooks to our classroom will allow a small group of students to have immediate access to research, ideas, maps etc. that will help them to learn and understand our world in a more efficient and fun way. In addition to research, these Chromebooks will be used for writing, reading, math and many other areas that are core to 2nd grade.
This donation of Chromebooks will be a major contributor in broadening the minds of these impressionable children.
They love to learn and in this age of micro-waves, fast-food and e-mail they are wired to be excited about immediate results. Whether it is research or playing a challenging math game, these kids will grow and progress faster than ever with this amazing technology at their fingertips.
