Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a TK-2nd special education classroom for individuals with intellectual disabilities who participate in the moderate/severe alternative curriculum. My students are extremely active, and their attention span lasts no longer than ten to fifteen minutes per activity. My students have a variety of needs including basic daily life-skills (e.g. diapering) to exposure to an age-appropriate standards-based curriculum.
My Project
In our classroom we have story time to help us imagine other beautiful places around the world. My students get really excited when I have a new book to read to them.
With this set of books, my students will have their own books to take home and read it with their families during the Winter break.
This will help them to not lose interest in reading and to keep their excitement of reading when they are away from school.
We will also keep a set for our classroom and enjoy reading them daily. Story time is our favorite activity to do as a group.
