This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is an early childhood center. We serve children from two nearby schools in Pre-K and Kindergarten. They come to us until they go back to their home schools for elementary.
Approximately 92% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
The majority of them are also learning English as second language.
We are a play-based school, value hands-on learning, and we are committed to helping our young learners meet their full potential in every way.
Our goal is for our students to fall in love with learning, and to thrive in a world of possible. Our campus is a special place, indeed!
My Project
Our young students are often motivated to read more and more books when they see titles with characters they know and love, or illustrations they recognize by their favorite authors and illustrators.
Our entire school community would be over the moon to have access to new books available from some of our favorite creators that we have already come to know in children's literature.
These titles will help our teachers take a deeper dive into author and illustrator studies, and encourage students and families to check out, read and enjoy more books from our school library. When we are able to instill a love of reading early on, we set our students on a path for success, and the benefits last a lifetime.
