This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an exciting educational project that will greatly benefit the 4th-grade students in my classroom. Our goal is to acquire rock tumblers, a variety of rocks, and books on rocks and geology to enhance our science curriculum and provide hands-on learning experiences.
Rock tumblers are essential tools for our students to explore geological processes firsthand.
They will observe erosion, abrasion, and polishing through tumbling rocks, gaining a deeper understanding of Earth's natural phenomena.
Acquiring a diverse collection of rocks will allow students to study different rock types, minerals, and geological formations. This tangible experience will deepen their comprehension of geological concepts and spark their curiosity about the natural world.
Access to age-appropriate books on rocks and geology will supplement our hands-on activities. These resources will serve as valuable references, providing students with additional information and engaging narratives that expand their knowledge.
Impact:
Hands-on activities with rock tumblers and rocks will engage students in active learning and foster a love for Earth sciences.
