Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The exciting, new school year has begun. The students in my class are very adorable, chatty, and eager to learn. I am glad to hear them say that they love school. These students come from an area with high poverty, and sometimes face situations that no child should have to worry about. They are very grateful for anything they receive and have wonderful manners. I love being able to provide a safe place for them at school and make their school year become more memorable and fun.
My Project
My students love books by Mo Willems. I introduce them to the Piggie and Elephant series and they can't get enough. Some of my students are starting to read at a higher level. They get very excited when they are able to read the whole book all by themselves. I would love to order these, so they can take it home and practice reading it with their family. I ordered several of these books because every week I would love to rotate the books and have them read a new Piggie and Elephant book. If the students are unable to read them, they will still be able to enjoy listening to the stories as their parents read these books to them.
