We Love Math!

My Students

Our third-grade classroom is a high energy, collaborative environment where we love to work together to achieve a common goal of rigor and higher level learning.

We are a leadership school where we tap into the leaders and talents within each of our students.

We believe in teaching our students that we can all work together to achieve a common goal to make a difference in our class, school, and community. Our students are eager learners who love exploring with hands-on materials and manipulatives.

My Project

We will use these math manipulatives to help us implement our schoolwide Singapore Math Curriculum. Singapore Math requires many hands-on opportunities in centers and group time to help the students gain a concrete understanding of the math skills taught during teacher lessons. With the materials I am requesting, we will be able to use the place value discs to learn how to do long division and multiplication. The fraction rods will allow us to compare fractions to see which are larger or smaller. The document camera will allow me to show the kids what we are doing on a larger scale and show student work.

Once my students have math manipulatives available to them, our class will be able to set up rotating math centers that allow children to explore with hands-on manipulatives in order to gain deeper understanding of key math concepts.
