Help me give my students engaging learning materials for centers such as alphabet sound teaching tubs and a listening center to help work on letters, letter sounds, and other essential reading skills.
My students are curious, hard-working, active learners, who love to use hands-on tools in the classroom to support their engagement and love of school!
The children in my class are from many different backgrounds and cultures.
There are nine languages spoken in my classroom and my students bring with them a wealth of knowledge and understanding. They are kind, caring, and hilarious and deserve the very best instructional materials I can give to them.
I would like to provide my students with engaging, hands-on instructional materials that allow them to practice essential beginning reading skills during center and choice time.
My Project
Knowing letter names and sounds is an important skill to master before learning to read. We need hands-on materials that are fun and engaging ways to practice and master these skills. Additionally, a listening center allows students to see how printed words can be closely connected with spoken words as well as help them learn new vocabulary and model fluent reading.
These materials can be used independently and in small groups so I can easily differentiate to meet the needs of my diverse group of learners.
Having activities that my students can do independently allows me to be able to pull other students into small groups and focus on the skills they need to practice. I chose these activities because they are hands-on and engaging. In kindergarten, we set the foundations for literacy work that students will need to be successful in higher grades.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student engagement and enjoyment in learning, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will use these materials in centers with a group of 2-4 other students to practice essential reading skills. This will help them develop both academic and social skills.
