We Love Literacy Centers, But Need Some Cool Supplies!

My project needs post-it notes, easel pads, and markers to note our learning and add our ideas to our literacy centers!

This project is fully funded

We are a second grade class in a small city in upstate New York. Almost 70 percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Although we have many struggles, we have many things to celebrate! I am fortunate enough to be involved in a literacy initiative that gives us proven results in the overall literacy growth of our students. I spend many hours preparing and researching ways to build independent readers and writers. It is frustrating, at times, when faced with a meager budget, below average salary, and plenty of student loans, coupled with enthusiasm and ideas to make learning meaningful and exciting while lacking the basic supplies needed. Each day students in our class visit literacy centers. At centers they have opportunities to read and write. On a daily basis, they are making notes or adding to charts that are posted and shared during our share time. Rather than scrounging up masking tape to post our findings on faded construction paper (when it is in stock), we would be thrilled to display the pride in our learning and discoveries with simple needs such as sticky notes, charts, and cool markers. We are so grateful for any part of this request you can fulfill.
