I have a class of 21 eager and awesome kindergarten students. They love coming to school and are excited to do the many activities that are planned for each day! Many of them have not attended Pre-K and are experiencing school for the first time. These students are having to catch up with those who were in the Pre-K program.
A large percentage come from low income families.
Our school also has a significant population of English language learners. They live in a small rural community. Academic resources are limited in our small community.
My Project
Our class is made up of kindergarten students who love books. Listening to read alouds is a great way to help young readers. We have 2 CD players with headphones, but only a small amount of books with cds. Having a larger collection of books for listening will give us a better variety of books to choose from.
I would like age appropriate books to enlarge my listening library.
MY students are able to use the listening library independently and this is a huge plus during guided reading time. This gives our class another center that is quiet, educational and fun .
