This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is full of preschool students ages 3-5 who were born with a variety of disabilities. They learn best through engaging experiences that fit their interests and are hands on. We are working on a lot of different skills that can be difficult for them and take more repetition and engagement strategies to learn.

I am asking for different academic toys that will help them learn our adapted curriculum and get them excited to be in school.

The laminating sheets will be used to create adapted materials and work binders that need to be laminated and reused with different students for many years. These include adapted books, matching activities, sorting activities, etc. The learning resource toys will be used when working on specific math, reading, play, communication, and social skills. These skills include counting, identifying objects, and story props, using their communication devices to ask for more and to open the toys, requesting their wants/needs, fine motor activities, sharing/turn-taking, working together, and their overall engagement in using toys appropriately. These toys fit all of their goals throughout the school day and will help them make lot of progress in their learning. Early interventions and their early development are important for their success in the future!
