Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives." -Robert M. Hutchins
Each and every day I have the opportunity to prepare my second grade scholars on how to grow as an independent thinker and learner.
I have the best group of students in my entire elementary school!!!
My second grade students love learning and they love coming to school!
Close to seventy-five percent of my students are reading on or above grade level. They love math and math centers!
Everyday my students are reminded to try their very best in school and to make their teacher and families proud. I am honored to work with these seventeen intelligent, motivated, entertaining scholars and their families. Our school is one of 207 schools in the district. Our school is Title I, high-poverty, and most of our students are bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will assist my students with their center tasks. When I am teaching a small group of students their reading strategies, my students who are not with me at this time are engaged in independent activities at their center. I have several different centers that students work through within the week. Our classroom's centers include math, reading, phonics, spelling, writing, social studies, science, computer, art, and listening. Paint is one of the materials I am requesting. My students love to paint! I plan to add paint to the spelling, art, and math center. My students could paint their spelling words or represent their math problems by painting a picture. Other resources that are on the list include items that will help my students in their math center such as subtraction quiz cards, paper money, and number line boards. The book shelf will help store and organize their books for the reading center/ classroom library.
The donations to this project will improve our classroom by allowing my students the opportunity to have more choices of materials to use during their center time.
The donations to this project will also assist by helping my students express their creativity and support their independent learning.
