My Students
Our Title 1 school is located in a very diverse neighborhood in Brooklyn. My students are 5 years old. They are an enthusiastic and hard-working bunch. Many of my kindergarteners are growing up in low-income homes and do not have access to the learning materials at home needed to promote their academic growth. Regardless of the challenges they face, my students are highly motivated and love coming to school.
The spectrum of developmental levels in kindergarten is vast, and I am working hard to meet the needs of all my students.
My Project
My kindergartners love building, exploring and playing. That is how they learn best. My goal is to provide them with more opportunities for hands-on learning and problem solving. I am asking for KAPLA blocks and BRISTLE Blocks. These materials will enable my students to design and build using creativity and imagination.
My kindergartners will work in small groups building three-dimensional structures together.
My students will develop spatial awareness and acquire basic knowledge of geometry, physics and technology. They will be so excited to represent the world around them! Then too, they will problem solve and develop social and emotional skills needed to succeed in school and life.
More than half of students from low‑income households
