Enthusiastic, authentic and determined is how I would describe my students. I am fortunate to have valuable interaction time with every student in the school three times a week. The students come from diverse backgrounds and each one of them are unique and amazing in their own way. The students that I teach come to P.E full of energy and enthusiasm. They love to learn new activities and beam with joy when they master a new skill.
Students work on team building and individual skills that provide them with opportunities to improve self confidence and social emotional connections.
Each student is searching for that one thing that makes them feel special and worthy. Through physical activity, students in my school are provided with a safe non judgmental environment that allows them to take chances. Students in my classes have the opportunity to develop healthy physical habits and through sports and exercise. Nothing is better than watching a student's self esteem blossom throughout a school year.
My Project
S.P.A.R.K.L.E Self Esteem/ Running Club for Girls is a program I started 2 years ago at SSES. Each letter of the word SPARKLE, stands for an attribute directly related to the characteristics we focus on in the club. Strong, Perseverance, Authentic, Responsible, Kind, Loyal, Empower.
Each week, the girls work together in a safe group setting where they learn life long skills on how to believe in themselves and transforms their thoughts into positive and empowering energy.
Through team building activities, role playing, and running, these young ladies take a 12 week journey to becoming the best that they can be. Each week the girls train to run a 5k. Their beginning time is taken the first week and from there we set a running time goal.
Donations to this project will give my girls, the tools they need to track their results and to train with equipment that will help improve their agility and endurance.
